AABC has a mini grant research initiative to encourage in-state research on important asset building topics. During 2013, AABC funded Dr. Lonnie Hannon from Tuskegee University for writing “Factors that Lead to Payday Loan Initiation Among the Working Poor:” How Structural Forces Influence Micro-Level Functioning and Dr. Edward Brown at Alabama State for writing “The Healthy Wealthy People Financial Literacy Research Project:” It examines the impact the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program services might have on participants’ financial literacy status. Dr. Brown is partnering with the 100 Black Men of Montgomery for this paper.
