Upper Northern Region

2011 marked a great year for the Upper Northern Region of AABC.  We held three regional meetings and had participants from all over the upper northern part of Alabama.  The meetings were hosted by the Huntsville Housing Authority and the United Way of Madison County.  We are very grateful for their work in promoting asset and wealth building throughout the state of Alabama.

In December of 2011, AABC held its Regional Mini Conference in Huntsville.  We brought in Madison County Commissioner, Robert C. Harrison as our keynote speaker to talk about the opportunities and challenges of wealth building in this part of the state.  DeForrest Brown of the United Way of Cental Alabama also talked about the IDA program and how we can better meet the needs of those looking for wealth building opportunities through home ownership, small business or continuing education.

AABC also honored Dave Dougherty of Family Services Center as our Community Champion for the work he and FSC have done to help low income persons.
